Our Work

At Great Lever Connected, we believe in community, connection, and care. Every day, our centre provides a warm welcome, free refreshments, a safe space, and free Wi-Fi for anyone who needs it. Alongside this daily support, we run a vibrant weekly programme filled with activities for all ages and interests.

Weekly Highlights

Monday – Coffee, Crafts & Games

Mondays are our busiest days!

  • Community Coffee Morning: A friendly gathering open to everyone, offering food, refreshments, and plenty of conversation (plus a game of dominoes—sometimes even our own special version, Slaterfield Rules!).
  • Craft Group: Our Wednesday Ladies meet on Mondays too, creating toys, cards, and crafts that raise funds each year for Bolton Hospice.
  • In Your Corner Games Afternoon: In partnership with Bolton Manbassadors, we welcome the community to enjoy tabletop games, darts, and table tennis. While open to all, this group is especially designed as a safe and supportive space for men to connect, share, and seek help when needed.

Tuesday – Digital Inclusion & Employment Support

Tuesdays are dedicated to closing the digital divide.

  • Job Club: Run with Bolton at Home UCAN, we provide practical support for job seekers—CV writing, job searches, cover letters, and interview techniques. We even help with work clothing where needed.
  • Digital Access: With laptops, desktops, and other devices available, we support people to get online and build skills as part of the National Digital Network and Bolton Digital Partnership.

Thursday – Knitting & Crafty Corner

  • Knitting Group: A welcoming space where members—mostly women, but open to all—knit, chat, and enjoy a warm brew.
  • Crafty Corner: A peer-led creative group that makes decorations, posters, and displays for our centre, working with the Wednesday Ladies and Bolton SM-ART.

Friday – Coffee & Community Games

  • Community Coffee Morning: Another chance for the community to come together over hot drinks and conversation.
  • Games like darts, table tennis, and board games are especially popular during school holidays.

Sunday – Tech-No Group for Young People

In partnership with the Dialogue Society, our Tech-No Sunday group offers young people a safe and fun place to meet—without mobile phones or screens. Instead, we enjoy games, table tennis, and real conversations.

Community Events

Throughout the year, we also design and host special events that bring people together, celebrate diversity, and spread joy. These include:

  • Annual Christmas Party & Christmas Dinner
  • Interfaith Iftar
  • Halloween Party
  • A new Easter/Eid celebration (which we hope will become a yearly tradition!)

Community Cohesion Workshops

We’re proud to run workshops that inspire unity and understanding. Recent sessions have included:

  • Spreading Kindness
  • Tackling Biases
  • Faith Solutions for Community Cohesion

More events are planned to continue strengthening connections across our community.
